Fitness Confirmation Bias:

http://io9.com/#!5780003/the-real-reason-why-you-are-fat-or-thin

I am so sick and tired of articles like this telling people it's ok to be obese. It's not! This article, and feeling good about it afterward, is called confirmation bias. Success, you found a random PhD who says that weight is hard to lose. Wait... do you see research here? any articles? any results?

no!

there are no real reasons in this article!
This reminds me of an image that makes me laugh:

Why not look at a real presentation about how people get fat:

After this... I bet you will have a list of reasons (its in parts - 40 mins long)

The Psychology behind making excuses:

The anecdotal 'evidence' (opinion) above is just crap. Let me set the story straight: being obese IS YOUR DOING. being skinny may or may not be your doing. The only difference between fat and skinny... is that in skinny people its hard to tell if they are skinny and health or skinny and unhealthy. Unhealthy is still bad.

What I love about the article above is this, a comment below"
Here's how I know there's a genetic component to being fat:

I spent three months one summer working on an oil rig in the middle of the New Mexico desert. It was 120 F outside, I stood eight hours a shift on a sheet of black iron doing strenuous physical labor/aerobic exercise to the point I had to drink three gallons of water every day just to not have to go pee.

I spent five hours of every day commuting in the bed of a truck, under a blistering hot sun, and every day the one meal I was going to eat was picked through by the other deckhands. I'd eat maybe half a sandwich.

Anyway, after three months of this (during which I once collapsed from heat exhaustion), I lost about fifteen.

That's it. "

So what you are saying to me is that you worked your ass off for months and had a restricted calorie diet. But what does that mean? the dude doesn't know. He hasno idea what is body was up to. The skinny fat people on the treadmills don't know either.

If you want to be fit the journey begins with KNOWLEDGE. Check out a real Phd with publications:

The Real Solution

Being lean and healthy is about eating lean and healthy. Refined carbs and foods that spike your blood sugar are BAD. Starvation mode is BAD. when you create the right situation (stimulus) for your body, the fat will melt off. You can't out work a bad diet. (and I mean caloric restriction or abundance!)

So yes, if you are uncontroably fat, and you are wondering why people wont hand you a million dollar project the reason is this:

If you can't sort out basic nutrition and research to selfishly lengthen your own life and feel better everyday, then why the heck should you be trusted to solve business problems that will no doubt be more variable and more difficult than this. Employers would love to have bias against drug addicts, or skinny people with heart disease... but unfortunately these people can hide their problems well. Don't be sad your horrible health is visible, embrace the awesome physical compass you have and lean up.

Think about it, some of those Managers and HR people used to be fat... and know full well how little you have learned.

Seriously!

And before you say anything, I'm 200 pounds of muscle (well ok probably like 180 lbs of muscle). Diabetes runs in my family, my family is typically overweight and I was on that path for some time. I work out 45 minutes a day and can almost see my abs. My diet is just 'ok'. It's really not that hard.

I'm just so sick of this "boo hoo im so fat but I'm too lazy to find out why" attitude.

I'm also sad that Phd's crap out silly interviews with no references to look into. Questionable? Considering that there is TONS OF RESEARCH on weight loss and an effing prime time show about it I think some people may have figured it out! Ya think?
